GROZNY, January 14. /TASS/. Up to 500,000 people are expected to gather at a public action in Chechnya’s capital Grozny next Monday, January 19, to protest against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed, Rizvan Dadayev, the director of the territorial department for ties with religious and public associations told TASS.
“When some people try to insult the Prophet, their actions can’t but stir anger in the soul of any Moslem and we’d like to express love for Him and other Prophets at this street action,” Dadayev said.
After reports on the meeting had been released, response came from thousands of people from all age groups.
Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov wrote at an official page in social networks the preliminary information he had indicated more than 500,000 people might take part in the Monday rally in Grozny.
The participants are expected to march from Minutka Square to the Heart of Chechnya central mosque where they will hold collective prayer.
The action was initiated by Chechnya’s Islamic clerics.
