MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. The defense lawyer of Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny and his brother Oleg has appealed the court’s verdict in the Yves Rocher company case.

“Today we have received the full text of the verdict, and we also submitted a short complaint against it. We ask to overturn the sentence and acquit our clients,” lawyer Vadim Kobzev told TASS.

Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky Court on December 30 handed down a 3.5-year suspended sentence to opposition figure Alexey Navalny and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison his brother Oleg Navalny after finding both of them guilty of embezzlement in the Yves Rocher company case.

The court also ordered the brothers to pay 4 million rubles ($65,412) in compensation to the Multi-Profile Processing Company in the case and imposed a fine of 500,000 rubles on each.
