MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday called for calm work despite an abnormal reaction to Russia’s efforts to ensure its national security.

“We often face an abnormal reaction to the protection of our national interests, but we should calmly, rhythmically and in a business manner treat the shortcomings being revealed during practical work, during drills or spot checks,” Putin said at a Defense Ministry board meeting.

“Now some of our partners, rivals already call our armed forces high-tech and efficient, modern, it is certainly good that such assessments are given,” the head of state said. “But we should proceed from realities.”

The Russian army, Putin said, should be inspected in practice, during training, when it masters modern hardware that is received and will be received by troops.

Putin addressed commissioned officers present at the board meeting drawing their attention to the situation Russia is in and threats around the country.

“We mentioned that in brief today, but specialists sitting in the hall understand everything anyway,” he said.

The president said it is necessary to start solving the tasks facing the country in the defense and security sphere, “to fully respond to the expectation of the Russian people, which hopes for the armed forces, for top officials at the Defense Ministry, for commanders of units, armed forces personnel.”

Putin underlined that the resolution of the tasks should depend on servicemen, and wished them success.
