MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Muslim communities in Crimea have received a Russian-Arabic software application that will enable students of Islam to learn the Quran and the Hadiths. It is a donation from the Russkiy Mir (Russian World) foundation, the chairman of the State Duma committee for education, Dr. Vyacheslav Nikonov said on Wednesday.

He took the floor at a conference titled "Mission of Religion and Responsibility for Modern Challenges," which had brought together representatives of the Ummah from different countries. Also attending the conference were Russian spiritual leaders of various denominations.

“This bilingual Russian-Arabic program will make the crucial spiritual texts of the Islamic faith accessible to users,” he said.

Dr. Nikonov said the foundation had provided digital versions of the Quran to other Islamic communities across Russia previously. "At present, it is working on a mobile version of the project so that young Muslims could study the Quran on their cell phones.”

The application includes the Russian translation of the Quran and Hadiths and comments on them, as well as the original Arabic text.

“The text has been verified and endorsed by the Azhar Academy in Cairo, since only the translations, which have passed the academy’s testing for precision and the high literary style, can be published and circulated,” translator Iman Porokhov said.
