MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. Russia hopes to continue constructive cooperation with the Council of Europe, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, opening talks with visiting Secretary-General of this European organization Thorbjorn Jagland in the Russian capital on Friday.

“You visit us regularly, today you came officially as the Council of Europe chief who had taken a second five-year term at the post,” Lavrov said. “We value an atmosphere of benevolence and mutual understanding and hope to continue constructive cooperation in a broad scope of issues.”

“Yesterday you have already started your visit program by meeting justice and interior ministers as well as the human rights commissioner,” the Russian minister noted.

“So, you have prepared well for our talks, we hope that they will be fruitful,” he added.
