MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. The electoral rating of Russian President Vladimir Putin remains at historic maximum of 72%, the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) pollster said on Friday.

Some 72% of Russians said they would vote for Putin if presidential elections were to be held next Sunday, the pollster said.

Just 5% of respondents said they would vote for Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky and 4% said they would back Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov.

The pollster says Putin’s electoral rating has been at maximum levels over the past several months: 70% in August-October and 72% in early November.

The survey was conducted on November 8-9 and involved 3,000 respondents from 64 Russian regions.

The level of confidence in Putin has been also persistently high — 84%/ Almost half of respondents (46%) said they “are more likely to trust” Putin, while 38% said they certainly trust the Russian leader.

The figures have been almost unchanged over the past few months. In October, 84% of Russians said they had confidence in Putin, while in September 83% of respondents said they trusted the Russian leader.
