Law enforcers kill militant in special operation in Dagestan

The circumstances are being clarified

MAKHACHKALA, November 10. /TASS/. Dagestan's law enforcement officers have killed one militant in the village of Dzhuli in the Russian North Caucasus republic’s southeast, where a counterterrorism operation was conducted on Sunday, a police spokesman said.

“One militant, a local resident who joined a gang in September, was killed during a special operation,” he said. "The circumstances are being clarified."

An investigation is underway.

Russia’s law enforcement agencies continue fighting militants in Dagestan over 13 years since the battle phase of the second war against Islamist separatists in the neighboring Chechnya came to an end in 2000. Attacks on security officials and civilians occur from time to time in Dagestan, Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria.
