NALCHIK, November 5. /TASS/. Three policemen have exploded on a home-made mine in the settlement of Chegem -2 in Kabardino-Balkaria in the North Caucasus. No reports are immediately available about the condition of the wounded policemen.

The incident occurred when an attempt was made to search a building where militants were hiding. One of the militants was liquidated, a source from law enforcement bodies in Kabardino-Balkaria told TASS. "The blast went off when a special task force police unit began search of the building where the militants were blocked," it said.

An intensive stage of the anti-terrorist operation has been going on in the private house since Wednesday morning. "The negotiations on voluntary surrender have yielded no result; according to a preliminary information, two militants might be hiding inside," the source said.

Law enforcers, who had been checking a number of concrete buildings, encountered resistance in one of them on Tuesday; the building was immediately blockaded, and tenants from nearby buildings were evacuated.
