Russia busts over 72,000 gambling houses in 5 years of gaming ban

Prosecutors jointly with other law enforcers have checked more than 108,000 facilities

MOSCOW, October 22. /TASS/. More than 72 thousand illegal gambling houses and around one thousand underground casinos have been busted in Russia in five years of the gaming ban outside four gambling zones, Prosecutor General’s Office said on Wednesday.

In this period of time prosecutors jointly with other law enforcers have checked more than 108,000 facilities. According to the  the Prosecutor General’s Office, more than 72,000 illegal gambling houses and 822 illicit casinos have been curbed in checks. Prosecutors jointly with police have confiscated more than 980,000 units of gambling equipment.

About 50 thousand chiefs of these gambling halls were brought to administrative responsibility and fined over $17.2 million altogether.
