Medvedev to meet with Belarusian president, prime minister in Minsk

Participants in the meeting will discuss the trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Belarus

MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will arrive on Tuesday in Minsk, where jointly with his counterpart Mikhal Myasnikovich he will participate in a meeting of the Union State’s Council of Ministers, office of the Russian government said.

Participants in the meeting will discuss the trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Belarus. In January-July of the current year, the trade turnover declined by 3.8% year-on-year to $21.9 billion. Russia’s share in Belarus’ foreign trade is over 47%, while the share of Belarus in Russia’s foreign trade is about 4.6%

The parties will exchange views on the work on strategic development of the Union State for 2014-2017. Russia and Belarus will discuss budget of the Union State for 2015,

The Council will discuss cooperation between Moscow and Minsk on key issues of the international agenda and common approaches to most important problems.

Another topic is implementation of a series of scientific, technical and innovative programmes and formation of the common scientific-technology space of the Union State.

During the visit to Minsk, Medvedev will have separate meetings with Belarusian prime minister and with president.
