Russia's Southern Military District gets 6 new fighter-bombers

MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. Six fighter-bombers Sukhoi Su-34 flied to a separate bomber regiment deployed in southern Russia’s Rostov region, the press service of the Southern Military District told TASS on Friday.

Crews of warplanes have made a nonstop flight from an airfield of an aviation enterprise in south-western Siberian city of Novosibirsk at a distance of more than four thousand kilometers.

At the end of this month crews of the regiment will begin planned flights by new warplanes with fire drills on air and ground targets.

“More than 40 modern models of aircraft, including modernised fighter jets Su-27 SM3, helicopter gunships Mil Mi-35 are planned to deliver in an air force and air defence formation of the military district in the near future,” the press service of the Southern Military District added.

A multifunctional fighter-bomber Su-34 belongs to 4+ generation in terms of its combat capacities, including a longer flight distance of up to four thousand kilometres, highest speed of up to 1,900 km/h and an advanced weaponry control system.
