UN Associate Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Farhan Haq said everything that helps ease tension in the region is lauded.
From the very beginning the UN called on Moscow and Kiev to maintain contacts and take steps towards deescalation, he said.Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Russia has withdrawn troops from Ukraine border not to “send signal” to Washington.
“This is not a signal to Washington. This is Russia’s domestic decision. This can be interpreted in any way, but this is not a signal,” the premier said in an interview with US TV news channel CNBC.
“Any decisions which Russia takes, including those regarding our armed forces, are within our authority," Medvedev said.
