F1 British pilot hails Mercedes’s victory in constructors championship at RF Gran Prix

SOCHI, October 12. /TASS/. Lewis Hamilton, the Formula 1 British pilot of Mercedes team, said Sunday the team’s victory in the constructors’ championship was a good addition to his personal victory at the Russian stage of the Grand Prix competitions.

Hamilton won the Russian Grand Prix; the Mercedes teams Germany pilot Nico Rosberg came second, and Valtteri Bottas of Finland representing Williams was third.

Thus the Mercedes teams ensured a victory for itself in the constructors’ championship three rounds before the final.

Hamilton called this Saturday and Sunday an incredible weekend and said the Mercedes team had been really fast and its victory was a perfect crowning for the Russian stage of championship. He said he was happy to see the team reach that historic success.

In the meantime, the Russian pilot Daniil Kvyat who performed for the Toro Rosso team said he was dissatisfied with his own presentation in Sochi.

“As for today, I think the 14th position marks the maximum of what I can hope for,” he said. “Unfortunately, my car can’t compete with Mercedes engines and more renowned teams for the time being.”

When TASS asked him if the intense attention of the media to him might have been too distracting, Kvyat said he was a professional.

“Communications with the media are part of my job and that’s why they can’t offer a justification for the result I showed today,” he said.
