Putin expresses condolences of death of acclaimed Russian director Yuri Lyubimov

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of world-acclaimed Russian stage director, actor and public figure Yuri Lyubomov, who died on Sunday at the age of 97, president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“The president noted that Yuri Lyubimov’s role in the development of Russia’s modern theatre cannot be overestimated,” Peskov said. “The head of state stressed that Lyubimov’s enormous talent would go on living in a galaxy of actors, who are his followers.”

Lyubimov died on Sunday at a cardiology department of the Moscow-based Botkin Hospital, where he had been taken on October 2 with cardiac insufficiency.

Lyubimov turned 97 on September 30.
