Russia, Abkhazia to sign new treaty on integration till yearend

SUKHUM, September 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and Abkhazia will sign a new treaty on ally relations and integration till yearend, Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov said on Thursday.

In compliance with the treaty, “a border will be opened stage-by-stage. There will be no obstacles for the movement of people and goods between Abkhazia and Russia”, Surkov said.

Russia and Abkhazia “will strengthen cooperation in defense, ensuring law and order. This is rather important. The living standards of the Abkhazian people will increase. We will do our best for people in Abkhazia to have the same guarantees in pension insurance as in Russia”, he said.

“Additional funding will be allocated for this. Russia is ready to provide it,” Surkov said. “After the treaty is signed, Russian financial support to Abkhazia will increase more than twofold. In the next years, it will grow,” he said.
