MOSCOW, September 22 /ITAR-TASS/. Three contract servicemen have died during exercises on Sakhalin Island in Russia's Far East, a Russian Defense Ministry source told ITAR-TASS on Monday.
A sea wave covered marines who were drilling an episode of landing on a wild beach 300 kilometers away from the coast in the Gulf of Aniva on Sakhalin Island on Monday morning. An airborne vehicle with crew and ten paratroopers disappeared under the water.
As a result, three contract servicemen died when trying to rescue their fellow-troopers, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
