MOSCOW, September 15 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has refused to recognize Sweden’s decision to sell the building of Russia’s Trade Mission in Stockholm as legal and said it retained its right to retaliate with similar measures, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

On September 12, the Swedish Enforcement Authority conducted an auction for the forced sale of an office and housing compound of the Russian Trade Mission, which possesses diplomatic immunity.

The Russian side has described the actions by the Swedish Enforcement Authority as illegal. It also regards as illegitimate the 2011 judgment of the Swedish Supreme Court passed on the Trade Mission building in favor of German businessman Franz Sedelmayer.

“The Swedish Foreign Ministry has previously confirmed the diplomatic status of the Russian Trade Mission building. Russia retains its right to respond with adequate measures,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
