DUSHANBE, September 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s relations with Iran develop progressively, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Friday.

“It’s common knowledge that we develop our relations in a consistent and progressive way,” the Russian leader said, adding that the sides implement a number of major joint projects. “We have good prospects for interaction and co-operation, both in the political and economic spheres,” Putin added, saying that he wanted to talk to his Iranian colleague on the whole range of bilateral relations.

The Iranian president for his part said that relations with Russia, “which is an important country in the region, are of major importance [for Iran].” Rouhani said that over the past year Russia and Iran witnessed progress both in the bilateral economic and political relations. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is set to develop relations with Russia in all spheres,” said Rouhani, adding that the Russian Federation has the same attitude.
