National poll backs Ukraine aid convoy decision

MOSCOW, September 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Overwhelming support has been signalled among the population for Russia's decision to send humanitarian aid supplies to embattled east Ukraine, urging further relief in future.

Nearly nine out of ten respondents in a nationwide poll backed despatch of the aid convoy trucks and nearly eight out of ten said shipments should continue.

Three-quarters of those asked said sending relief aid was permissable even in a country torn by civil war and without the consent of either national authorities or international agencies.

The All Russia Center for Studies of Public Opinion (WCIOM) polled across 42 Russian territories on September 6-7, reporting a statistical error margin of no more than 3.4%
