Troops in eastern Russia redeployed in combat readiness checks

Operation of commanders and staffs will be assessed in the first phase of urgent checks

MOSCOW, September 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Troops of the Eastern Military District were being urgently redeployed in combat readiness checks, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service told ITAR-TASS.

Troops deployed in the eastern district headed for areas of training and started large-scale regrouping, the press service said.

Tank, motorized infantry, missile, artillery and other units based in the Primorsky and Trans-Baikal regions will be carried by trains, and some units are ordered to reach the places at a distance of over 1,000km away by own transport.

Operation of commanders and staffs will be assessed in the first phase of urgent checks.

Under Supreme Commander in Chief Vladimir Putin’s order, a total of about 100,000 troops of the Eastern Military District and the command of the Air Force, Air Defence and the Pacific Fleet were placed on alert on September 11 in the checks that will last till September 18.
