MOSCOW, September 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and China should strengthen strategic cooperation to ensure effective development and maintain global peace, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui said on Tuesday.
China’s victory in the war with Japan is marked on September 3. The Chinese ambassador spoke at a solemn ceremony devoted to the 69th anniversary of China’s victory in the war with Japan.
“Many countries, primarily the Soviet people, provided support to the Chinese people in the war. We’ll never forget that Soviet servicemen arrived in China in the 1920’s and fought with us,” Li Hui said.
“We’ll remember that after the war in Europe, 1.5 million Soviet soldiers together with the Chinese people defeated the Kwantung Army and made special contribution to the victory over Japan’s militarism,” he said.
“Today the situation in the world is unstable. China and Russia as permanent members of the UN Security Council stand for world peace. We must step up strategic cooperation and move towards creating a fairer world order for the sake of peace and prosperity of mankind,” Li Hui said.
