PYONGYANG, September 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Federation Council First Deputy Chairman Alexander Torshin on Tuesday thanked North Korea for the balanced position on Ukraine.
The Russian parliamentarian met with chairman of the North Korean Supreme People’s Assembly Choe Thae-bok for talks on ways to expand inter-parliamentary relations, develop economic and cultural cooperation.
“The country knows what effect the sanctions can have that’s why North Korea realizes that historical truth is on Russia’s side,” Torshin told ITAR-TASS.
“We’ll be glad to receive a delegation of the Supreme People’s Assembly in Crimea to allow North Korean legislators to study the process for the peninsula’s return to Russia as a constituent entity,” he said.
Torshin called for developing trade relations with North Korea. Under the import independence program, Russia would like to increase goods supplies from North Korea, including seafood, he said.
