According to previous reports, more than 80 samples of armaments were planned to be tested at the range in 2014, and more than 30 armament samples were tested there in 2013.

In 2015, the full modernisation of the range’s measuring complex and its transfer to the automatic work mode is expected. The range currently comprises four main research and test units for testing armaments and military equipment of the RVSN, air defense and Air Force, Ground Troops, the research and test centre of measurements, mathematical processing and information exchange, as well as the Sary-Shagan missile defense range in Kazakhstan. The Kapustin Yar range is planned, in particular, to be used as an experimental site for robot testing.
