MOSCOW, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Foreign Ministry praises the position of the Red Cross organization that has reaffirmed its readiness to provide support for the population of eastern Ukraine.
"The International Committee of the Red Cross has proved to be a responsible partner," the ministry said in a statement.
"In the current changed situation, the ICRC reaffirms its readiness to support and enlarge its presence and activity in the Lugansk region."
The organization will participate in distributing relief aid among the neediest groups of the population.
The ministry added it had received thanks from very many Lugansk residents who expressed gratitude for Russia's care.
