Amphibian plane L-42 crashes in Kirov region

Rescue units and emergency response services immediately went to the scene of the supposed crash site

KIROV, August 08, /ITAR-TASS/. Rescuers from the regional department of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME) look for a private four-seat amphibian plane L-42,

Aleksey Neustroyev, head of the press service of the RME regional department, told Itar-Tass that, according to preliminary data, the light multi-purpose four-seat twin-engined amphibian plane L-42 crashed in Podosinovets District of Kirov Region.

"The plane was, tentatively, on a flight from Samara to Arkhangelsk," Neustroyev said.

It is too early to speak with certitude about a crash, since the plane has not yet been found, he added.

According to the RME, a message about a possible air crash came in at about 22:30, Moscow timr, on August 7. There were two places in the air at that moment. One of them disappeared from radar screens. RME personnnel and equipment of of Kirov and Vologda Regions are taking part in the search effort. The operation is complicated by fog in the area of the supposed crash site.
