MOSCOW, August 06. /ITAR-TASS/. A bill about transfer of the common polling day in Russia from September to March is expected to be presented in the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament on Wednesday. The bill is sponsored by the Liberal Democratic Party faction members headed by Igor Lebedev, Yaroslav Nilov, and MikhailDegtyaryov.

Nilov told Itar-Tass that the main amendments are contemplated to be introduced to the Law "On Basic Guarantees of the Electoral Rights of the Citizens of the Russian Federation and their Right to Participate in Referenda".

The document accompanying the bill reads, "The bill suggests transferring the (common) polling day from September to March. This would enable candidates to carry out their election campaign in the period when the electorate can estimate it and consciously to make their choice".
