US violates principle of non-interference into affairs of other states — FM

MOSCOW, July 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The United States have violated the principle of non-interference into domestic affairs of other countries, Russian Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Andrei Kelin said at the OSCE Permanent Council meeting in Vienna. The text of his speech was made public at the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday.

In his words, the most flagrant violation of this principle “is instigation for overthrowing the constitutional power.” “Actions mainly from the US were aimed at this, as the country sent its official representatives to the Maidan (Independence Square in central Kiev), gave out sandwiches in the streets, decided who from ‘Maidan leaders’ will be named prime minister and who should not be permitted to come to power,” Kelin said.

“They who launched a dangerous political process which resulted in a deep domestic Ukrainian crisis,” the diplomat added. “Now we witness nothing more than a primitive attempt to take revenge for events developing not according to Washington’s scenario.”

“Instead of bringing Ukrainian leadership to senses when the latter dispatched heavy armored vehicles, warplanes and artillery guns against local residents in Donbass (the main Ukrainian coalmining region) and Luhansk region (south-east Ukraine), the White House tries to instigate further bloodshed, but at the same time shirk any responsibility for the current events,” Kelin noted.
