BRASILIA, July 17, 3:24 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia is vitally interested in termination of bloodshed in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
“I don’t know whether there exists any other country besides Russia and Ukraine that would be so much interested in stopping bloodshed and settling the situation,” Putin said.
“Because we have many friends there, because we have had special relations historically, there are many Russians, Russian speakers etc. We need to push for immediate termination of the military conflict,” he said.
Vladimir Putin said all countries should call the parties to the Ukrainian conflict to talks rather than push Kiev toward resuming a fratricidal war.
“All parties to the conflict in Ukraine should be urged to immediately stop combat operations and to start talks,” Putin told journalists.
He said American partners on the contrary “push today’s authorities in Ukraine toward continuation of a fratricidal war and punitive operation.”
“This policy has no prospects,” Putin said.
