“Unidentified servicemen of Ukrainian military forces, members of Ukrainian National Guard and Right Sector have fired shells at the city of Donetsk in Rostov region on July 13. A 45-year-old man was lethally wounded by a shell hitting a residential house in Baltiyskaya Street in the city of Donetsk. A 82-year-old woman was also wounded, but received medical aid timely,” Markin recalled.
Meanwhile, during the search at the place where the local resident was killed “detectives have found traces of shells, including a hole of 130 by 170 centimetres in diameter and 60 centimetres deep, and also confiscated around 70 metallic pieces of the shell,” the committee’s spokesman said. Meanwhile, traces of two shells in cone-shaped holes were found on the territory of the house of the wounded woman.
“Detectives have already announced forensic expertises seeking to find the death causes of the killed man and the degree of graveness of bodily wounds which the wounded woman sustained. Required expertises, including blast technical and ballistic expertises will be conducted soon to find the type of shells and their flight trajectory, the place and way of their launching,” Markin added.Investigative Committee’s investigation department in the Southern Federal District is investigating a criminal case for murder and attempted murder of two and more people committed by an armed group.
Donetsk is a regional city with a population of 49 thousand people situated 171 kilometres away from the city of Rostov-on-Don, borders Krasnodon district of southeast Ukraine’s Lugansk region. Multi-way automobile border-crossing point Donetsk, which is adjacent to Izvarino border-crossing point in Ukraine, is situated on the Donetsk outskirts and is considered one of largest border-crossing points in Rostov region. Ukrainian shells have repeatedly hit this border checkpoint and the territory of Donetsk during the conflict in southeast Ukraine.
