Amirov was detained in June 2013. He is accused of preparation to a terrorist act, illegal weapon smuggling and murder of acting head of the Russian Investigative Committee department in Sovetsky district of Makhachkala Arsen Gadzhibekov on December 14, 2011.
North Caucasian district military court sentenced dismissed Mayor of Makhachkala, the capital city of Russian North Caucasian Republic of Dagestan, Said Amirov, to ten years in prison for preparing a terrorist act.
On cumulative charges the court finally sentenced Amirov to ten years in jail, the judge said.
Amirov will serve this sentence in a tough security penitentiary.
Court also found guilty second defendant in this criminal case - Amirov’s nephew, former deputy mayor from Dagestan’s Kaspiisk Yusup Dzhaparov. He was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison.
