Putin urges to conduct import substitution in defense industry

MOSCOW, July 07. /ITAR-TASS/. President Vladimir Putin has urged to settle problems in import substitution in the defense and industrial sector as quickly as possible. In his view, allocations needed for this step will be acceptable for the federal budget.

“Some flaws remain in several trends (in import substitution) in the Russian defense and industrial sector,” the president said at a meeting of the Commission for Military-Technical Cooperation on Monday.

Putin has set the task to settle these problems “as quickly as possible".

“I am aware that Defense Ministry and Russian government had actually elaborated on all these issues. I want to note once again that it is essentially important primarily for a program of re-equipping domestic military forces,” the president noted.

“All this is real, all this will be done. Certainly, most apparently this will require additional funds, but it is absolutely acceptable money that do not burden the budget,” he said with confidence.
