SIMFEROPOL, July 04. /ITAR-TASS/. About 100,000 Ukrainian citizens have applied for asylum in Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said on Friday.

“About 20,000 are at temporary accommodation facilities, and the rest are staying with their relatives and friends,” he said.

“We have been offering the (temporary asylum) status in compliance with the Russian legislation, as the events in Ukraine are reasons for a temporary asylum status according to Russian laws.”

The deputy prime minister added Ukraine’s 1.9 million citizens were in Russia, while a year earlier the authorities registered 1.1 million.
