“The quay on which reconstruction and construction works are underway has stretched for more than 2.5 kilometres. The initial stage of the work should be completed by October 2015, and by the end of 2017 the naval base, meeting most modern requirements will be fully ready for operation,” Chumikova said.She added that the construction of this and other facilities in the Far East had been inspected by Spetsstroi Director Aleksandr Volosov. “The facilities that are being built here by Russia's Spetsstroi’s main department for the Southern Federal District will form the basis of the naval base for several ship formations and in the future they will receive new-type helicopter carries and warships that will be adopted for service in the Russian Pacific Fleet,” the spokeswoman said.
