Russia and Lebanon concerned about growing terrorist threat in Middle East

MOSCOW, June 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and Lebanon are concerned about the increasing threat of terrorism in the Middle East, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday after a meeting between the Russian president’s Special Representative for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Lebanese Ambassador to Russia Shawqi Bou Nassar.

“The development of the situation in Lebanon and the entire Middle East was discussed at the meeting,” the ministry said. “Both sides expressed serious concern over the increasing threat of terrorism in the region.”

The Russian side voiced “its support for the efforts of the Lebanese government and law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism for the sake of preserving stability and unity of Lebanon, and safety of its citizens”, it added.
