ST. PETERSBURG, June 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Kirovsky district court of St. Petersburg has arrested six alleged members of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, who were detained by the Federal Security Service during an operation on Tuesday morning, June 24.

Court officials told ITAR-TASS that all the suspects have been put under a six week arrest. They fall under the article on control of terrorist organization’s activity in a criminal case initiated by the federal security service department of the region and the city of St. Petersburg in November, 2011.

In all, the security officers detained around 30 suspects during that operation. Most of them were set free later.

Earlier, in 2003 Russia’s Supreme Court declared the Hizb ut-Tahrir to be a terrorist organization and outlawed its activity in the country’s territory.
