GORKI, June 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev proposed to leader of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas to discuss Middle East situation and development of bilateral co-operation.

“I would like to discuss the general situation with due account of a large number of problems in your region and talk development of economic ties,” Medvedev said, opening the meeting with Abbas.

The prime minister confirmed that Russia’s position regarding Palestine remains unchanged. “We support Palestinian people’s striving to establish an independent state. We take a permanent position and will continue to adhere to it,” he noted.

Medvedev noted that ties between Russia and Palestine were regular. “This is important for further development of our traditionally friendly ties,” he said with confidence.
