MOSCOW, June 18./ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Federal Assembly on Wednesday adopted amendments to the national law on citizenship, which simplifies the rules of obtaining the Russian citizenship by foreign graduates from Russian institutions of high learning, entrepreneurs and investors.

The new rules are applied to the graduates from Russian institutions of high learning who received their diplomas after July 1, 2002 and worked in Russia for at least three years; to investors who have invested from 100 million roubles (approximately $2.8 billion) in the equity capitals of Russian legal entities.

Foreign journalists working for media outlets that distribute information in foreign languages will be relieved of duty to confirm their command of Russian and knowledge of Russian history when they receive accreditation to work in Russia.
