Medvedev to chair session of governmental commission on health protection in Moscow Region

MOSCOW, June 09.  /ITAR-TASS/. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will chair a visiting session of the governmental commission on health protection in Moscow Region on Monday.

The session is to be held in the grounds of the Serpukhov elevator manufacturing factory an up-to-date enterprise built with due regard for the increased requirements for the ensurance of sanitary and hygienic norms at the workplace and at the factory as a whole.

The entire personnel taken on a job undergoes a primary medical examination. In accordance with the approved norms, the workers are provided with individual protection means, washing agents and detergents. Premises have been allotted at the enterprise for a medical aid station. All sectors and services have available first-aid packages. Rooms for a rest and eating are available as well.

A government press service official said those present at the session would discuss the state of working conditions and the incidence of occupational diseases in the Russian Federation, a new mechanism to determine the state of working conditions at the workplace, as well as development of the provision of medical services to the working population.

The following persons will take part in the Commission's session: Vice-Premier Olga Golodets, Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Health, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minsiter of the Interior, Alexander Konovalov, Minister of Justice, Dmitry Livanov, Minister of Education and Science, Mikhail Men, Minister of Construction and Public Utilities, Vitaly Mutko, Minister of Sports, Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Communications and the Media, Igor Slyunyayev, Minister of Regional Development, Maxim Sokolov, Minister of Transport, Maxim Topilin, Minister of Labour and Social Protection, officials of Federal executive power bodies, governors of regions, members of the medical community, public and professional organizations.

The government in its work attaches much importance to refining medicine and popularizing a healthy way of life. According to the Concept of the RF Demographic Policy for a period until the 2025 target year, and the RF National Security Strategy until 2020, the main goals in the sphere of health care and the preservation of the health of the nation are to extend life expectancy, reduce the risk of disability and mortality, develop disease prevention measures and render timely qualified medical aid to the country's population.
