State Duma Speaker to arrive in Tokyo for two-day working visit

On the first day of his programmme, Naryshkin will attend the opening ceremony of a "Festival of Russian Culture in Japan 2014"

MOSCOW, June 02 /ITAR-TASS/. Sergei Naryshkin, Speaker of the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament, arrives in Tokyo on Monday for a two-day working visit.

An official at the House department for public relations and interaction with the media has told Itar-Tass that on the first day of his programmme, Naryshkin will attend the opening ceremony of a "Festival of Russian Culture in Japan 2014". "Russian and Japanese artistes, people prominent in the field of culture, members of the Japanese parliament, eminent political figures and statesmen have been invited to attend the festival," the department official said.

During the visit, Naryshkin is also to hold talks with the leadership of the Japanese parliament, members of the public-and-private coordinating Council for the promotion of Japan-Russia contacts, and visit the mission of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tokyo.

"The Russian delegation will also meet with the leaders and members of the parliamentary Association of Japanese-Russian Friendship," the State Duma official said.
