Medvedev to confer with experts ways to raise the effectiveness of corporate governance

"Those present will consider proposals on ways to bring corporate governance in state-run companies into line with the best international practices", says on the web of the Cabinet of Ministers

MOSCOW, May 28, /ITAR-TASS/. Ways to raise the effectiveness of corporate governance will be the main subject of discussion during Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's meeting with the members of the Expert Council to the Russian Government on Wednesday.

A report placed on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers says, "Those present will consider proposals on ways to bring corporate governance in state-run companies into line with the best international practices, first-priority steps in the introduction of a Code of Corporate Governance, and measures to upgrade the efficiency of the work of the Boards of Directors and develop institutions for the protection of the shareholders' rights".

The Expert Council to the Government is a deliberative body, set up for the conduct of expert examination as well as for participation in elaborating and implementing all significant socio-economic decisions of the Cabinet, Federal Ministries and agencies.
