Earthquake strikes Buryatia, no damage reported

ULAN-UDE (Itar-Tass) - A 4.9-magnitude earthquake has struck Buryatia, the republic in south Siberia along the eastern shore of Lake Baikal.

The quake was recorded in the Muya district, northeast of Lake Baikal, at 00:42 local time (19:42 Moscow time, May 23). The epicenter was 15 km east of the settlement of Severomuysk. Locals felt 2-3-magnitude tremours.

There were no victims and no damage, a duty officer at the Russian Emergencies Ministry's department in Buryatia told Itar-Tass.
