Russia,China prepare joint draft treaty on prevention of deployment of weapons in space

ST. PETERSBURG, May 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and China have prepared a joint draft treaty on prevention of deployment of any weapons in space, deputy Roscosmos chief Sergei Savelyev told ITAR-TASS on Thursday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"Together with Chinese partners, we are working very actively in the area of improvement of international space law regulations. The brightest example is the prepared joint Russian-Chinese draft treaty on the prevention of deployment of any kinds of weapons in space. It is our joint initiative with China," he noted.

This year, the draft treaty would be submitted for discussion to a UN disarmament conference that will take place in Geneva, Savelyev said.
