MOSCOW, May 22. /ITAR-TASS/. A household gas blast has hit a residential house on Kutuzovsky Avenue in Russia’s capital, Moscow on Thursday, law enforcement authorities told ITAR-TASS.“According to preliminary reports, ceilings between fourth and third floors of the residential house ruined,” the source said.
At least one person was injured in the gas blast. Information about other possible injured people is being specified. “Ten ambulances were sent to the incident site,” the law enforcement source said.
The explosion occurred in an apartment on the third floor of a 9-storey residential house on Kutuzovsky Avenue, 14. The house has been damaged and fire broke out. At present, the fire has been put out. Blast debris is being removed.
Mishandling of household gas could be the cause of the explosion that triggered fire, law enforcement authorities told ITAR-TASS.
“A gas blast occurred setting on fire the second floor of the residential house. According to a preliminary version, mishandling of gas could be the cause of the incident,” police said, adding that the exact number of injured was being specified.
“Police is ensuring the safety of people, protection of public order and free access of special machinery to the incident's site,” the press service said.
The first floors of the affected house are occupied by the municipal hospital No.57, Family and children social aid center ‘Kutuzovsky’, several boutiques and the office of Al Jazeera International Limited TV company.
