Fire destroys 22 houses in Siberian settlement

Nobody injured

IRKUTSK, May 18, 23:00 /ITAR-TASS/. A total of 22 residential houses were destroyed by blaze in the settlement of Dalny, in Russia’s Siberian Irkutsk region, on Sunday, an officer on duty at the local operations control centre has told Tass.

“This is preliminary information. The final data will become clear at dawn, when rescuers will examine all streets of the settlement,” Sergei Yuriev said, adding that nobody had been injured in the fire. “All local residents are safe. The fire has been localized, but gusts of wind may cause new fire outbreaks,” he said.

An emergency fire regime has been declared in Priangarye territory of the Irkutsk region, where two fires broke out in local settlements on Sunday. Three houses were destroyed by blaze in the town of Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky earlier on Sunday, and a fire continues in the settlement of Dalny. Both fires came due to negligence, in which the fires from agricultural burnings spread to residential houses amid strong winds.
