Drug trafficking via Ukraine on the rise — Russian anti-drug chief

MOSCOW, May 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service registers a growth of drugs smuggled through the Ukrainian territory, the service’s chief Viktor Ivanov told reporters on Thursday.

“Ukraine is evidencing high tension inside the country, which has a serious impact on the drug problem,” he said. “Drug lords use the Ukrainian territory for Afghan heroin and Latin American cocaine to pass through it. The drug trafficking via Ukraine has been climbing steadily.”
