MOSCOW, May 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s single voting day of September 14 may break the record in the number of election campaigns.

“At this stage, elections of governors are planned in 24 constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” deputy head of the Central Election Committee (CEC) Stanislav Vavilov said on Thursday at a meeting with chairmen of regional election commissions of the Central and North-Western Federal Districts.

“In 12 regions of the country, elections of legislative bodies of state authority (regional parliaments) will be held,” he said. “The issue of scheduling elections to the State Council of the Republic of Crimea and the Legislative Assembly of the Federal City of Sevastopol is being considered,” Vavilov said.

“In addition, elections of mayors of administrative centers in four Russian sub-federal entities will be held, and in another 19 administrative centers, representative local self-government bodies will be elected,” the deputy CEC chairman said.

Thus, according to preliminary information, the total number of election campaigns will reach some 7,000, as of today - in 77 regions of Russia. Together with the Republic of Crimea and the city Sevastopol the number will be 79.

The meeting in Kaliningrad has become the third arranged by the CEC of Russia within the framework of preparations for the single voting day. The CEC told ITAR-TASS that on May 16, CEC Chairman Vladimir Churov would hold a simulation exercise with the forum participants on the nomination and registration of candidates. The meeting agenda includes a roundtable discussion of relevant problems of the organization and procedure of elections.
