First organizational meeting of Crimea's electoral commission will be held in Simferopol

MOSCOW, May 14. /ITAR-TASS/. The first organizational meeting of the electoral commission of the Republic of Crimea will be held in Simferopol on Wednesday to elect Chairman of the REC. Russia's Central Electoral Commission (CEC) earlier recommmended Mikhail Malyshev for the post. Malyshev headed the commission on the referendum in Crimea.

"Representatives of political parties, public organizations, and the media have been invited to participate in the REC meeting," a CEC press service official said.

CEC Deputy Chairman Leonid Ivlev and CEC Secretary Nikolai Konkin are also to arrive in Simferopol.

On Tuesday, the CEC suggested Valery Medvedev, head of the Sevastopol commission on referendum, for the position of Chairman of Sevastopol electoral commission (SEC).

V. Medvedev said the SEC's first organizational session would be held on May 17.
