ALGIERS, May 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and Algeria have identical positions on the situation in Ukraine, speaker of the Russian Federation Council upper parliament house Valentina Matviyenko told journalists after a meeting with her Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Bensalah on Tuesday.
Matviyenko said that the situation in Ukraine had been raised at her talks with Bensalah. “We are thankful to Algeria for its adequate assessment of the developments in Ukraine,” she noted, adding that Algeria had always been against any foreign interference into the domestic affairs of any state. “Algeria stands for an inclusive dialogue inside states to solve their political problems.” Algerian leaders “are against violence against a country’s own people.” She said. “We have identical positions on the situation in Ukraine.”
Matviyenko said that her Algerian counterpart had highly appreciated Russia’s efforts to have the parties to the conflict sit down at the negotiating table and to resolve the Ukrainian political crisis by peaceful means.
