Russian woman dies, 11 Russians injured in Turkey’s Antalya road accident

Injured travellers were brought to a hospital in Side

ANKARA, May 04 /ITAR-TASS/. A Russian woman died and 11 Russians were injured in a road accident in the Turkish province of Antalya on Sunday, Russian General Consul in Antalya Alexander Tolstopyatenko told Itar-Tass.

“The road accident occurred at around 11am (12:00 Moscow time) near the city of Side [a resort town on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey]. The driver of a bus in which foreign tourists were travelling lost control of the wheel. The bus skidded of the road and capsized. Ten people were injured in the road accident,” Tolstopyatenko noted, adding that “One Russian woman died.”

“People came to spend their vacations in Turkey with the Tui Tour travel company (the host company is Prince Group). Their insurer in Ingosstrakh. They were heading to their hotels from the Side airport in a tourist bus,” the Russian consulate said. “According to preliminary information, the bus driver, a Turkish citizen, lost control of the vehicle, the bus skidded of the road and capsized. The injured were taken to local hospitals.”

Russian diplomats are in contact with local police to learn more details of the accident.
