MOSCOW, May 02, /ITAR-TASS/. More than 3 million people took part in various festive events on the occasion of May 1, when Russia celebrates the Day of Spring and Labor, the Interior Ministry reported Friday.
“Over 3,100 events involving more than 3 million people took place in 1,630 cities and inhabited localities,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Overall, more than 61,800 internal affairs bodies' officers and over 5,100 Russian Interior Ministry troops were used in the country to ensure public order and security,” it said.
In addition, security was ensured by some 5,200 representatives of voluntary people’s patrols and more than 3,200 employees of private security companies.
No serious violations of public order were registered, the statement said.
